NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Supervisors of Middlesex Township by Resolution has authorized the Director of Public Safety to sell used surplus police officer
shotguns consisting of five Winchester 12-gauge shotguns and one Westernfield 12-gauge shotgun. Any bid made must be in writing and delivered in a sealed envelope labelled “Middlesex Township Surplus Weapon Bid” with the make and serial number of the particular weapon written on the envelope. The bid for only one weapon must be in a separate envelope as noted above and any bidder may submit separate bids for more than one weapon. All bidders must be qualified to possess, transport, and accept transfer of a weapon.

The successful bidder shall be required to accept transfer of the weapon, at the successful bidder’s sole cost, within 30 days of notice of the bid award. Each bid shall contain bid security in the amount of 10% of the bid amount in the form of a certified check payable to Middlesex Township, with the balance of the bid amount to be paid in certified funds to Middlesex Township within 30 days of award of the bid and before transfer of the weapon.  All funds paid to Middlesex Township by the successful bidder shall be forfeited in the event the weapon is not properly transferred to the successful bidder within 30 days of notice of the bid award. All costs of the transfer of the weapon shall be paid in addition to the balance of the bid amount at the time of the transfer of the weapon.

All bids must be received at the offices of the Middlesex Township Police Department, 350 North Middlesex Road, Carlisle, Pennsylvania, by 4 p.m. March 29, 2024. All timely bids will be opened at the above office at a time determined by the Middlesex Township Director of Public Safety. If all bids are not rejected it is anticipated that during the regular public meeting of the Board of Supervisors to be held at 7:00 p.m. on April 3, 2024, at the above location, award will be made to the best responsible bidders. The Board of Supervisors may reject any bids received believed to be less than the fair market value or for any other reason. Serial numbers and the years of all  weapons noted above are available on the Middlesex Township website at, and no inspection of the weapons will be permitted.
