TRASH MUST BE PLACED IN GARBAGE BAGS: It has been determined by the CDC that COVID-19 can remain viable for hours to days on a variety of waste materials thrown out to be collected. With that said, EFFECTIVE MARCH 30, 2020, Waste Management (WM) will be requiring that all waste be bagged using 30-32 gallon trash bags in order to be collected. Grocery bags containing waste will not be accepted as these are prone to breaking open and are the major cause for windblown trash on collection days. Loose trash will be left at the curb and not collected effective March 30th for all areas. This will eliminate windblown items while dumping the container. THIS PROCESS DOES NOT INCLUDE RECYCLING. Recyclables shall remain un-bagged and single stream. This process should help reduce the spread of the virus, and it should help protect WM employees and Middlesex residents.
