The Letort Regional Authority (LRA) was formed in 1974 to preserve and protect the Letort Spring Run in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. LRA is operated by a Board of Directors appointed by Cumberland County, the Borough of Carlisle, North Middleton Township, South Middleton Township, and Middlesex Township and has undertaken numerous one time and long term projects, alone, or in cooperation with local, state, and federal agencies, citizens groups, local schools and colleges and others to manage the health of the stream and to maintain it as a community resource. The activities of LRA center around land development plan review, procuring land use easements, water quality, recreational opportunities and long-range planning. LRA also maintains a nature trail and holds several properties and conservation easements.
