Why Use a Rain Barrel?

According to the Cumberland County Conservation District, a single inch of rainfall on a 1,000-square-foot roof can produce more than 600 gallons of water. Capturing even a portion of that rainfall can make a significant impact.
Stored rainwater can be used for watering gardens, flower beds, potted plants, and other outdoor landscaping needs. Because rainwater is naturally free of chlorine and other treatment chemicals, many gardeners prefer it for their plants.
Rain barrels also help reduce stormwater runoff by slowing the flow of water from roofs and driveways.
