Please Note: The facility is closed on holidays and during periods of snow or icy conditions. If a holiday falls on a regularly scheduled operating day, the compost facility will be closed.
Identification Required
To ensure the compost facility remains available for residents of Middlesex Township and North Middleton Township, all users must present a valid photo ID showing a current address before unloading materials.
Compost & Mulch Availability
The compost facility is monitored to help prevent contamination from garbage, unauthorized materials, and non-resident use. Mulch is typically available seasonally, and additional operating days or hours may be scheduled when weather conditions or demand require. Any changes to the schedule will be posted on the Township website.
Accepted Materials
The following materials may be brought to the compost facility:
- Christmas trees
- Leaves
- Shrubs (roots removed)
- Shrubbery clippings
- Tree branches cut to 6 feet or less in length
- Branches up to 12 inches in diameter
- Branches must be free of fruit
Materials Not Accepted
The following items are prohibited:
- Stumps
- Bamboo
- Ornamental grasses
- Grass clippings
- Rose bushes
- Flowers
- Bulbs
- Vines of any kind
- Roots
- Fruits and vegetables
- Garbage or household trash
- Bulk items
- Dirt, stones, bricks, or concrete
- Construction and demolition debris
- Hazardous materials
- Charcoal
- Bags, containers, or packaging materials
Facility Rules
- All loads must be inspected by the site attendant before unloading.
- Materials may only be unloaded after receiving approval and instructions from the attendant.
- The site attendant has final authority regarding acceptance of materials.
- Attendants are not permitted to assist with loading or unloading.
- Bags and containers must be removed from the site and may not be left behind.
- Contractor drop-offs are not permitted. The facility is for residents only.
- Dumping is prohibited when the site is closed or unattended.
Security Notice
The compost facility is monitored by 24-hour video surveillance. By entering the site, you acknowledge that your visit may be recorded.
