The Public Works Department is responsible for a variety of tasks in the Township. These include:
Roads
The Township maintains approximately 53 miles of township roads. The department is responsible for roadway repair and maintenance, roadside upkeep and vegetation management, and responding to local emergencies, including downed trees and flooding.
Snow Removal
Township snow removal operations utilize three tandem-axle dump trucks, two single-axle dump trucks, and one small 1-ton dump truck. During a snowstorm, it typically takes 5–6 hours to clear township roads. When only anti-skid material is being applied, road treatment can usually be completed in about 1.5 hours.
Stormwater Management
The Public Works Department maintains Township water inlets and pipes.
Facilities
The Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance of the Township’s office complex, including the office building, public works garages, salt shed, fuel pumps and grounds. Also included is a large garage on Beagle Club Road.
Vehicles
All Township and police vehicles are maintained by the Public Works Department.
Compost Site
The Public Works Department operates and maintains the Middlesex Township/North Middleton Township Joint Composting Site on Windy Lane.
Parks
There are three parks within Middlesex Township. Anderson Park is located at 119 Hill Drive, Letort Falls is located at 105 N Middlesex Road, and the Main Park at 50 Beagle Club Road. The Public Works Department is responsible for the daily maintenance of all three parks.
